Remember how the Holy Spirit came upon Jesus like a dove? (Mat 3:16) When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him.
It is interesting to me that there are 9 fruits of the Spirit (Gal 5:22-23) and 9 gifts of the Spirit (1 Cor 12:8-10). Leonard Ravenhill, the great British revivalist, once said that a dove cannot fly without both wings. And just as a dove has nine primary flight feathers on each wing, there are nine Fruits of the Spirit and nine Gifts of the Spirit.
Some think the gifts of the Spirit are not for today. That would be like a dove flying with only one wing. Is that how some Christians "fly?"
Let's be balanced Christians and get off the ground and serve the Lord!
(Acts 1:8) "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
