At sundown today begins the Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashanah. It is one of the Feasts of Jehovah and has spiritual significance for us today as Christians:
Leviticus 23:23-25 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 24 “Speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall have a sabbath-rest, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation. 25 You shall do no customary work on it; and you shall offer an offering made by fire to the LORD.’”
Historic Significance: The Feast of Trumpets (later called Rosh Hashanah or New Year’s Day) ushered in the civil year. Israel remembered God’s goodness. (see also Num 29:1-6)
Prophetic Significance: Speaks of the Rapture - 1 Thess 4:16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Also points to the regathering of Israel at end of Tribulation: Mat 24:31 And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
Who knows...maybe today we'll hear the trumpet sound and will meet the Lord in the air! Anyone look outside yet to see if there are any clouds?!
